| While on a visit to Paris, we decided on a cycle trip to Versaille with Fat Tire Bike Tours. The cycling was extremely easy, and definitely the best way to see Versailles. Travel from Paris was by RER, from a nice quiet suburban station reached via quiet roads from the tour office.
We managed to pick a very wet day to go, and the entire group repeatedly got soaked, but it was so warm it wasn't really a problem. To add to the memorable quality, the quiet Versailles station we'd arrived at had a power cut when we wanted to go back. Instead we used the much busier main station instead, taking us into Montparnasse. This provided the bonus entertainment of getting the bikes down two floors to road level and rather busier streets back. |
